Vicki Johnson is a children's book author, born and raised in the rural South, educated in New England, employed in the nation’s capital, and currently based in Appalachia. She is a dog AND cat person.

Johnson’s debut Molly's Tuxedo is a 2024 NCTE Charlotte Huck Award Recommended Book, a 2024 ALA Rainbow Book List selection, a 2024 Children’s Book Council K-2 Teacher Favorite, and a 2023 Ontario Library Association Top Ten ‘Best Bets’ Picture Book. The ALA/ALSC included it on their 2024 Summer Reading List for grades K-2. It’s also a 2024-25 nominee for Maine’s Chickadee Award, the children’s choice award for picture books.
